The AI Players
These are the more common AI systems I encounter professionally and personally.
Claude (Anthropic): Developed by Anthropic, Claude is known for its safety-first approach, ethical guardrails, and ability to handle long-context conversations, making it ideal for educators, businesses, and teams needing reliable and responsible AI interactions. The latest model as of May 2025 is Claude 3.5, supporting multiple input types like text, documents, and images, and is available via free and Pro subscription tiers.
ChatGPT (OpenAI): Created by OpenAI, ChatGPT remains one of the most versatile and widely used AI assistants, particularly favored by developers and content creators. It excels in coding assistance, content generation, and customization through plugins and APIs, with GPT-4o being its latest model as of mid-2025. It supports text, document, and image inputs and operates on a freemium model with a $20/month Plus subscription.
Gemini (Google): Formerly known as Bard, Gemini is Google’s AI assistant deeply integrated into its ecosystem, including Workspace and Android devices. It supports over 35 languages and offers multimodal capabilities for text, image, and video understanding, with Gemini 2.5 noted as a recent version in mid-2025. Advanced features require a $20/month subscription, and it is praised for image analysis but criticized for clunky file handling.
Copilot (Microsoft): Powered by OpenAI’s models (including GPT-4 Turbo), Copilot is tightly integrated into Microsoft 365, Windows, Edge, and Bing, serving as an AI assistant across Microsoft products. It supports text and image inputs and is particularly useful for users within the Microsoft ecosystem, with advanced features available through Microsoft 365 subscriptions rather than a standalone Copilot fee.
Leo AI: Ironically, Leo AI could not tell me about itself.
Leo AI is a company based in Cambridge (United States), founded in 2023 by Moti Moravia and Maor Farid. It operates as a Generative AI-powered mechanical engineering design copilot. Leo AI is baked into the Brave Browser which is how I have come to know and value it.
